Dear Graduate Students and Faculty Members
With my pleasure to invite you for attending general lecture in landscape ecological aspect, as follows:
Title: “Fragmentation and Stagnation: Flood Management in Jakarta”.
The paper will outline some of the obstacles that Jakarta faces in the management of their rivers, especially the Ciliwung, and how this compares to other river management strategies from a physical and institutional perspective. It will then analyze Jakarta’s floods management strategies using a theoretical framework of complex system adaptation, and subsequently concluding with ways in which the management of the Ciliwung River can better adapt to a changing urban environment.
