On gala dinner of Michigan State University – South East Asia Regional Reunion in Savoy Homan Hotel, Bandung – last March 12, 2011 was signed the Letter of Intent (LoI) between Michigan State University (MSU) the US and Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Indonesia. Prof. Dr. Siddarth Chandra, Director of Asian Studies Center – MSU/a representative of MSU brought the LoI, which was signed by Prof. Dr Douglas Buhler, Interim Dean of College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Michigan State University, the US. In IPB side, Prof. Dr. Hadi Susilo Arifin, Head of Landscape Management Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture on behalf of Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, Rector of Institut Pertanian Bogor (Bogor Agricultural University), Indonesia had signed an initials on left side of IPB Rector signature space in the event of IPB-MSU LoI Signing.
LETTER OF INTENT FOR ACADEMIC COOPERATION BETWEEN INSTITUT PERTANIAN BOGOR (IPB) or BOGOR AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, INDONESIA AND MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY

Whereas both institutions believe that this collaboration is beneficial to their overall programs and useful in helping to meet their stated goals, the two institutions agree to initiate cooperative activities of mutual benefit.
This Letter of Intent is not considered to be a contract creating legal and financial relationships between the parties. Rather, it is designed to facilitate and develop a genuine and mutually beneficial research or educational relationship.
This Letter of Intent does not obligate either institution to provide funding or direct support for future collaborative activities. However, either institution, or both, may choose to provide support on a case by case basis. Implementation of specific collaborative programs will depend upon a formal agreement with the academic unit and the availability of funds.
The letter can be amended, with the approval of both parties, by means of exchange of letters through the authorized officials at each institution. Either party may initiate the exchange of letters.
The parties subscribe to a policy of equal opportunity and do not discriminate on the basis of age, color, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, height, marital status, national origin, political persuasion, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or weight.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, Institut Pertanian Bogor and Michigan State University have executed this Letter of Intent for Academic Cooperation as of the last date affixed below.
